documentary · dated
Chai Jing's 104-minute documentary on China's smog, with full English subtitles. A former TV anchor, she investigates what smog is, where it comes from and what can be done, prompted by her daughter's health problems.
Recommended as an accessible, powerful introduction to severe urban air pollution, remembered also for being banned in China.

For an introduction to the problem, and to anyone who hasn't lived in a severely air polluted city, I highly recommend the documentary Under the Dome , released earlier this year and later banned in China: ▶ this video

China? Pertinent parallels with this part of Chai Jing's censored talk "Under the Dome"[1] (worth watching the whole thing actually). [1] ▶ this video

I still remember 2001 when I first arrived at Hongkong to work. My first day at the office, I got teary eyed. I told my boss why is it so..he told me it's because of the pollution and I should drink lots of water. It is probably way lot worse now. I saw this documentary recently, ▶ this video it is a good watch. FYI China is also destroying marine life in the West Philippine Sea [link] [link]

Is it in response to that viral video [1] on air pollution that got banned a couple of weeks ago? Nice move. [1] ▶ this video
