An Onion News Network sketch in which two teenage girls appear on TV to plead for their kidnapped friend's release, then start gossiping about classmates. It is a satirical parody of teen behavior and sensational news.
HN commenters call it one of the best and funniest Onion News Network videos and a sharp parody of teen girls.

This is the best birthday present I could have asked for. The Onion News Network has the funniest, most prescient videos online and I love going back to watch them. Even if the Onion comes back half as funny as they were it's going to be fabulous. Here are a few of my lesser-known favorites: [link] [link] ▶ this video

Half a decade ago, The Onion reached the pinnacle of satire with their Onion News Network. What made it different was the presence of a really solid fourth wall. Not once is there a wink at the camera or any indication that the actors are "in on it". All the satire I've seen in more recent years has had people talking in an exaggerated manner about absurd events. They don't talk like real people. I wouldn’t even put it in the pedestal of psychological manipulation. It’s gossip, the same as teen magazines and tabloids. They just dress it up with authority. Standard low minded stuff. I tune in for some gossip from time to time, no harm no foul. But jesus, do it all the time and you might as well become this: ▶ this video
